August, 2002
Hey, what could be more fun than me documenting the progress
of our screened porch & deck being built. I'd love to take
credit for the building (or at least I HOPE I would),
but a REAL contractor is doing this job
**PLEASE NOTE*** All photos were taken with a wide-angle lens.
Trust me, the builders ARE using a level. Four of them, actually... *grin*

July 31 - August 13, 2002
Took them a while to get the footers dug and inspected.
A total of 27 holes needed to be dug.
Six are for the spa/hot tub support.
August 14, 2002
Houston...we have supplies.
August 15, 2002
NOW they're cranking!
August 16, 2002
Houston...the hot tub has landed!

Don't go out of town when your contractors are supposed to be working.
They only got the Trex installed on the deck this week.
They assure me *groan* that next week they're going to kick butt again...
September 4, 2002
Well...after a couple of weeks of virually NOTHING...
September 9, 2002
Since I had the tub wired up, I figured I'd at least get that cranking.
A little more (very little) rail up...and one side of the stairs.
September 11, 2002
More progress. The wonders never cease.
Stair on both sides now.
Frame for the porch enclosure going up...
September 14, 2002 (a Saturday)
The "A" Team showed up today and tore a lot down. *laugh*
The other crew that had done the latest work really screwed things up.
But the guys straightened all that out and made a little more progress today.
They rebuilt all the railings & the stairs... The other crew got fired.
September 20, 2002
Another week goes by...another DAY of work done. *sigh*
At least the quality of the work is good. Definitely NOT speed-builders...
September 27, 2002
Okay...more traction while I was out of town. One of these days...
September 30, 2002
They said they intend to finish this week. We'll see...
OCTOBER (HELLO!) 1, 2002
Screening on a screened porch. AMAZING! They also added the lattice to the bottom sections.
I will trim all that out myself when they're finished. I have to add the landscape beds anyway...
October 2-3, 2002
They pretty much finished today. Which, of course, means they still have to fix a bunch of things.
They will be back in the morning to finish the electrical work and touch some things up.
I need a nice, heavy rain now to check that roof out. Strong winds would be good too. *grin*
Oh yeah...I also have to seal all the wood with Sikkens. At least two coats...natural...
